Bittersweet Bakehouse was founded by Emmalee Huitron, a professionally trained pastry chef and graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island. Originally from the east side of Michigan, Emmalee discovered her love for baking at a young age, even competing in 4-H baking competitions. After graduating, she moved to Chicago where she built her skills and experience working in a variety of restaurants and bakeries.
Eventually, Emmalee returned to her home state and settled in Westland, where Bittersweet Bakehouse first began as a farmers market vendor. With overwhelming support and positive feedback from the community, she was able to open her own storefront.
Today, the bakery is run by Emmalee with the help of her husband Armando, whom she met while working in Chicago. Together, they are passionate about creating high-quality, homemade baked goods and building meaningful connections with their customers.
